Null Modem Cables & Adapters These cables and adapters
are configured such that a computer can communicate to another computer
without a modem (thus “null” modem) or a computer can communicate with a
printer. Essentially, a null modem
cable or adapter reverses pins 2 and 3 (transmit or receive). To complete the communication of a DB25 to
DB25 cable or adapter the configuration is as follows: 1-1, 7-7, 2-3, 3-2, 4
& 5-8, 8-4 & 4, 6-20 and 20-6.
Parallel Printer Adapters These one piece adapters
convert the signals from the DB25 connector to the Centronics connector. The pin configuration (DB25 Centronics) is
as follows: 1 to 14 is straight through, 15-32, 16-31, 17-36, 18-33, 19-19,
20-21, 21-23, 22-25, 23-27, 24-29 and 25-30.
PS/2 to AT Adapters These adapters provide an
interface between the mini din 6 connector (MD6) and a 5 pin din, DB9 or DB25
connector. The mini-din 6 is commonly
used in keyboard and mouse applications.
PS/2 to Serial Adapters These adapters are
used to convert PS/2 to serial ports.
